Focusing on Interest

The Mission of Reason™ (MOR) is made up of a wide diversity of
people with a broad range of intersests and pursuits.  The Special
Interest Groups, (SIGs) within MOR let people work together either
within local chapters or across chapters on topics that interest
them and closely relate to the MOR mission.

Activities
PRS-SIG - Promoting a Reasoning Society

PRS-SIG is a proactive group that looks for areas where society is
choosing between reason and irrational or dogmatic motivations
for decision and works on helping society move to reason.  This
group is politically active, in that it hopes to promote a better and
less divisive society where reason, rather than power, cultural
inertia, intimidation, or propaganda are used to sway social
decisions.  It encourages  the infusion of reason in the education
process, in government, and in private institutions and companies.
Concepts
CA-SIG - Conscious Art™

Members interested in making and evaluating art using the
Conscious Art framework participate both in art workshops and the
community at large, engaging artists in discourse and
encouraging art that leads to mutual intellectual growth and
understanding.  CA-SIG also promotes the critique of art by relating
it to the impact that art has on society and personal dialogue.  IT
does this by encouraging a conscious and open exploration of the
ideas presented in art from and informed and proactive
perspective rather than isolating the creative process or its
evaluation as an unspoken intuitive assumption.  For more
information on
Conscious Art™, click here.
IOC-SIG - Interpreting Our Culture

IOC-SIG members study the various cultural, political, and
institutional traditions of the world.  They use reason to cull value
from these diverse traditions and present what they discover in a
rational forum.  IOC-SIG, through various activities, seeks to
integrate the diverse traditions of the world into a coherent and
rational view that is self-aware of the global scale of our society.
They look for ways to use the metaphors and traditions while
laying aside the clannish identity, institutional contradictions,
dogmatic authority, and prejudice that are sometimes associated
with such traditions.
